Watch: We still fight in the dark – Assista: Lutamos no escuro

(EN) The audiovisual performance/installation We still fight in the dark was created as a response to the research We can’t fight in the dark – led by Professor Cathy McIlwaine between 2016-2018 in partnership with Latin American Women’s Rights Service (LAWRS) (funded by the ESRC) – as one of the first research projects to gather data on the nature and types of gender-based violence experienced by Brazilian migrant women in London.

Drawing from the academic evidence, Migrants in Action, a community theatre organisation, worked collaboratively with a group of 12 Brazilian women during eight creative applied arts sessions.Together they have produced a creative response to the alarmingly high levels of gendered violence experience by Brazilian women.

Produced by Migrants in Actions and King’s College London (Department of Geography and Policy Institute), with funded by the ESRC Impact Fund and supported by People’s Palace Projects, Queen Mary University of London and Latin American Women’s Rights Service (LAWRS).

(PT) A performance audiovisual/instalação LUTAMOS NO ESCURO foi criada como uma resposta criativa à pesquisa Não se pode lutar no escuro– liderada pela acadêmica Cathy McIlwaine (King’s College London) entre 2016-2018 em parceria com a Latin American Women’s Rights Service (LAWRS), e financiada pelo Conselho de Pesquisa Econômica e Social do Reino Unido. Foi uma das primeiras pesquisas que publicou dados sobre os tipos de violência de gênero vivenciadas por mulheres brasileiras migrantes em Londres.

Com base nas evidências acadêmicas, a Migrantes em Ação (MinA) – organização de teatro comunitário baseada em Londres – trabalhou em colaboração com um grupo de 12 mulheres brasileiras migrantes, durante oito workshops artísticos. Juntas, elas produziram uma resposta criativa aos dados alarmantes sobre as experiências de violência de gênero vivenciadas por mulheres migrantes.

O projeto é uma realização da Migrants in Action (MinA) e King’s College London (Departamento de Geografia e Instituto de Políticas Públicas), com financiamento do ESRC Impact Fund e apoio da People’s Palace Projects, Queen Mary University of London e Latin American Women’s Rights Service (LAWRS).
